FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
MAY I CHOOSE THE COLOR AND SHAPE? Nothing is done without your approval. First, we work with you to design the most attractive style and shape based on your facial features and personal preference. Then, individualized colour is chosen. We have a large variety of colours to choose from.
WHAT IF I WANT TO CHANGE THE COLOR AFTER THE PROCEDURE? Permanent makeup works to enhance your natural beauty so that you look good all the time. It is applied in the skin and you can always apply conventional makeup over it to change your look for the day.
DOES THE PIGMENT POSE ALLERGY PROBLEMS? There have been very few reactions to the pigments in Permanent Makeup history. Some doctors recommend that people with allergies have permanent cosmetic procedures because they can avoid cosmetic products that they are sensitive to. If your medical history shows you are highly allergic to many substances, a patch test is suggested.
IS IT PAINFUL? Our anaesthetic ointment is so effective that very little pain is felt. Everyone experiences the procedure differently. Most people experience some discomfort, from very mild to moderate. This varies according to each individual. Sensitivity of the application is greatly increased if the client is pre-menstrual.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE? Times vary with each individual. It takes an experienced technician an average of one hour for each procedure.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME? You can go back to work right after the procedure. But you will have some swelling on the lips and eyeliner. The colour looks 40-50% stronger than the final result. It takes about 4 to 6 days for the skin to completely heal.
HOW WILL I LOOK IMMEDIATELY AFTER? The area treated will become inflamed and reddened, so it is advised to not make any social engagements for the days following the treatment. The colour will look darker and more defined for the first week. After one week, the intensity will soften about 50% to 60%. Detailed aftercare instructions are provided and reviewed before and after each procedure.
CAN I GET MY PERMANENT MAKEUP CHEAPER? It saves you money and embarrassment to do it right the first time. This is not a time to shop for the lowest price, especially for something that is going to be permanent on your face! The cost will directly reflect the experience and skill of the artist, so choose carefully. Like most services, you get what you pay for.
WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE IT? Although the procedure is considered permanent, these procedures do have flexibility in changing colour and shape to some extent, depending on the expertise of your technician. Colours will appear darker immediately following the procedure but will soften and lighten during the healing process. The healing time is different for each individual and procedure.
IS IT REALLY PERMANENT?” Technically, permanent cosmetics procedures are considered permanent because the colour is implanted into the upper reticular part of the dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, as with any tattoo, fading can and often does occur, requiring periodic maintenance, every plus minus five years. Just like hair colour, furniture that may be located near a window, or even house paint, pigment implanted in skin may fade with time. It is important to consider this and all aspects of the procedure when selecting a potential permanent cosmetic makeup technician.
WHAT IS A TOUCH-UP AND DO I NEED ONE? A touch-up is a colour re-enhancement. Almost always the implanted colour is not perfect after the first procedure. These procedures are processes and one follow-up to the initial procedure should be scheduled. It is very rare that you would need more than one follow up treatment. It is recommended that you do not traumatize the skin again for a minimum of four weeks. Permanent make-up is not a science but an art, and an adjustment of colour or shape may be required.
IS IT SAFE? If proper sterilization and sanitary guidelines are met, permanent cosmetics should be completely safe. These guidelines include the following:
- All needles are new and sterile for each client.
- Gloves are new for each client and changed during the procedure when needed.
- Technician should be clean and neat.
- Clean sheets should be used for each client.
- Treatment area should be clean and sterile.
